Day 1: Depart for Tbilisi
Day 2: Tbilisi
Arrive in Tbilisi, meet in the airport and transfer to a hotel.
In the morning we will have Tbilisi city tour: founded on a mixed eastern and western cultures Tbilisi will undoubtedly enchant any visitor. Narrow streets of Old Tbilisi will be here your companion to the picturesque districts, early Christian churches and the bath district where the city history starts. And panoramic view from Narikhala fortress overlooking all the districts of the city will simply increase your admiration. We will also visit Georgian national art museum and its gold fund with the unique artifacts of Georgian chased art and some rare enamel samples on display. Overnight in Tbilisi
Day 3: Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Bakuriani
In the morning drive to the ancient capital of Georgia – Mtskheta. Here we will visit Jvari monastery (6th century) and Svetitskhoveli cathedral (11th century) which houses the robe of Christ. They are both UNESCO World heritage sights. Afterwards we continue our way to the south-west of Georgia to Meskheti and Javakheti regions. A stroll in Borjomi park and here we will see the spring of mineral water Borjomi. Drive up to Bakuriani ski resort. Next 2 overnights in Bakuriani
Day 4: Bakuriani – Vardzia – Bakuriani
Early in the morning we will drive to Vardzia cave town. The way to the cave town is full of old fortifications as it is very close to the border. Once the hidden town still hugely impresses its visitors with numerous caves. Here in the heart of the cave town we will visit the church of the Virgin and enjoy its unique frescos whish are one of the best paintings in Georgia. Afterwards return back to Bakuriani.
Day 5: Bakuriani – Kutaisi
In the morning drive to Imereti province famous for its hospitality and delicious dishes. Kutaisi has the history of many centuries. It is mentioned in the myth about the Argonauts. Medea – this famous Kolkhis woman and history of the Golden Fleece start right here. Visit Bagrati cathedral (11th century) and Gelati monastery (12th century). Both UNESCO World heritage sights. Next 2 overnights in Kutaisi.
Day 6: Kutaisi – Batumi – Kutaisi
In the morning drive to the Black sea coast city Batumi which attracts all visitors with its exquisite European style architecture and subtropical plants. Then the way through tea and citrus plantation will bring you to the Botanical Gardens comprising 5000 species of Georgian and foreign plants. Visit Gonio fortress (1st century) – once one of the greatest fortifications at the Georgian border. Taking a stroll in a famous Batumi boulevard and return back to Kutaisi.
Day 7: Kutaisi – Gori – Gudauri
In the morning we drive to Gori – the birthplace of Stalin and Uplistsikhe cave town (1st millennium BC) which preserves various interesting religious and household buildings from pagan and early Christian period. Afterwards continue our way along the military highway and visit Ananuri complex (17th c) famous for its magnificent carvings. We continue our way along the stunning Aragvi gorge and huge mountains all around and arrive in ski resort Gudauri. Next 2 overnights in Gudauri.
Day 8: Gudauri – Kazbegi – Gudauri
Today the highlight of this trip awaits you. On the way to Kazbegi we will enjoy fabulous views of the Great Caucasus, turbulent rivers and fascinating gorges. On arrival in Kazbegi we start walking up to Gergeti Trinity church (14th century). The route to the church starts in the village and continuous in the forest. Here we enjoy the beautiful view of Mt. Kazbegi (5047). Return back to Guduari.
Day 9: Gudauri – Sighnaghi – Telavi
In the morning drive to Kakheti famous for being cradle of wine – making. Visit the fortified town of Signaghi lying on the slopes of the mountains. Taking a stroll in the streets of the town, visit Ethnographic museum and enjoy the views of the Caucasus mountains and Alazani valley. Continue the way to Telavi and visit one of the local villager’s wine caller and taste wine produced in a Georgian traditional way. Next 2 overnights in Telavi.
Day 10: Kakheti
Today we will visit the main architectural complexes of Kakehti region: Walking up to Nekresi monastery (6th century) and then visit Alaverdi cathedral (11th century). Afterwards visit Gremi complex (16th century). The latter still preserves the Persian influence. We will also visit wine factory and have wine-tasting there. We will taste some brand wines produced from local species of vine.
Day 11: Telavi – David Gareja – Tbilisi
In the morning we will drive to semi-desert and visit David Gareja cave monastery (6th century).This area is famous for fascinating views. We will visit two monasteries – Lavra and Udabno. The latter preserves famous frescos dating back to the 9th century. Afterwards drive to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 12: Departure
