Day 1: Arrival

Arrival in Baku International Airport.

Day 2: Baku

Today, we get familiar with Baku. Enjoy superb panoramic views of the city. Visit Shirvan Shah’s Palace, famous for it’s Mausoleum and ancient mosque ruins. Visit Meidan’s tower.

Afterwards, visit Heydar Aliev cultural center – famous for its Architectural style. In 2014 the building got the prize for being the best in the world. Later, we visit Carpet Museum.

Overnight in Baku.

Day 3: Baku - Absheron - Gobustan - Baku

In the morning, visit Absheron peninsula. Visit fire temple and Yanar Dagh. Afterwards, drive to Gobustan Historical reserve. The reserve is well known for its perfectly preserved rock paintings – petroglyphs.

Later, our way lays through the Mud Volcanos, UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to Baku.

Day 4: Baku - Shemakha - Sheki

After breakfast, drive to Shemakha, which is one of the oldest cities of Azerbaijan, in 9th-16th centuries Shemakha used to be the center of Shirvan’s Kingdom. Here we visit oldest Juma Mosque in Caucasus (10th century) and Yedi Gumbaz Mausoleum, which is the tomb of Shirvan Shah’s royal family.

Later, drive to village Lahij and its copper handcraft stores. Continue our way to Sheki.

Day 5: Sheki - Lagodekhi - Sighnaghi - Tbilisi

After breakfast, drive towards Azerbaijan-Georgia border. Change guide and transportation and continue tour to Georgia. First, we visit local family in Georgia, where we have lunch with homemade traditional dishes. Visit local winery and taste Georgian natural wines. Georgian way of wine making in Qvevri (Clay pot) is intangible UNESCO World Heritage Site and Georgia is known as a homeland of wine.

Later, visit Sighagnhi, “City of love”. The wall of Sighnaghi is one of the most important historical monuments in the whole Georgia. There is a stunning view of Alazani valley and Caucasus mountains from Sighnaghi. Drive to the capital, Tbilisi.

Day 6: Tbilisi

Today, we explore the capital of Georgia – Tbilisi. We will visit its narrow streets, with wooden houses and balconies. Visit Sulfur Bath Area and the historical museum, where the Golden Fund of Georgia is preserved. Tbilisi is city of diverse culture, we will see Orthodox Churches, Armenian Church, Mosque, Synagogue in the old part of the town.

Along with old architecture, we will see important examples of Modern Tbilisi architecture, such as Peace Bridge. After the tour, have some free time to explore pretty cafes and bars of the city.

Day 7: Tbilisi - Gergeti - Stepantsminda - Gudauri

Today, we drive to Stepantsminda via Georgian Military highway. Stepantsminda with Gergeti church (14th century) is the most popular touristic destination in Georgia. Gergeti church stands on the hill with the background of proudly overlooking “Mkinvartsveri” Mountain (5047 m.).

On the way, to Stepantsminda we will stop at Ananuri architectural complex (17th century). The nature around the complex is very exciting. In the evening, arrive in Gudauri for overnight.

Day 8: Gudauri - Gori - Uplistsikhe - Kutaisi

After breakfast, visit Kartli region. First, we see cave-town Uplistsikhe. Thousands of years ago, great silk road used to pass here. Uplistsikhe is the oldest cave-town in Georgia. Later we drive to Gori. We will stop in Gori, hometown of Joseph Stalin. Here we see his birthplace, museum and a private train carriage.

With this carriage he traveled to Theiran, Yalta and Postdam. In the evening, arrive in Kutaisi, which is connected to Argonauts myth. Kutaisi used to be the capital of undefeated Kolchis Kingdom.

Day 9: Kutaisi - Gelati - Prometheus Cave - Kutaisi

We start our day with visiting Gelati Monastery complex, which was founded in 12th century and used to be most important cultural center of Georgia in the middle centuries. Gelati is UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Afterwards, visit Prometheus grotto, which is located closed to Kutaisi and is very special natural monument. Return to Kutaisi.

Day 10: Kutaisi - Mtskheta - Tbilisi

Today, we will travel from Kutaisi to Mtskheta. Mtskheta is the ancient capital and religious center of Georgia. Its history dates back more than 4000 years. This city still existed before Christ and according to legend, part of his robe is kept here.

Here, we will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites – Jvari Monastery (6th century) and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century). Continue to Tbilisi.

Day 11: Tbilisi - Sadakhlo(Border) - Haghpat - Sanahin - Sevan

After breakfast, we drive to Georgian-Armenian border. Change guide and transportation and continue tour to Armenia. We start exploring Armenia with Sanahin and Haghpat Monasteries (10th-13th centuries). Both Sanahin and Haghpat monasteries are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, they look very similar and are located very close to each other.

Afterwards, we drive to Sevan lake – the biggest alpine lake in the world, located on 2000 m. above sea level.

Day 12: Sevan - Selim Caravenserai - Noravank - Areni - Yerevan

After breakfast, take a short tour of Sevan peninsula and Sevanavank Monastery. Sevanavank monastery is overlooking the Sevan lake and because of its location, it is one of the most popular destinations in Yerevan. Continue our way to Selim Caravanserai and Noravank. Selim Caranserai is preserved very well.

Afterwards, visit Areni village, where we taste Armenian wines. Areni is the center of wine-making in Armenia. Continue to Yerevan.

Day 13: Yerevan City tour - Khor Virap - Echmiadzin - Zvarnots - Yerevan

Today, we have a tour of one of the oldest cities in the world – Yerevan. We will visit old city and Genocide memorial. Continue our tour to Khor-Virap monastery, which is one of the most famous Armenian monastery and is located in front of Biblical mountain – Ararat.

Afterwards, visit Echmiadzin Monastery complex, which is the heart of Armenian apostolic church and the religious center of the country. Echmiadzin complex is UNESCO World Heritage Site. For lunch, we visit local house, where we taste traditional Armenian dishes. On the way back to Yerevan visit Zvartnots Temple, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, return to Yerevan.

Day 14: Yerevan - Matenadaran - Garni - Geghard - Yerevan

After breakfast, visit ancient manuscript museum – Matenadaran in Yerevan. Afterwards, drive to Garni Temple. This is the only remaining pagan temple in the whole post-Soviet territory. In Garni village visit local family, where we see how Armenian lavash is baked and how Armenian BBQ – Khorovats is made.

After lunch, visit Geghard Monastery, which is very original building and  half part of it is hewn out in a rock. Geghard Monastery is UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to Yerevan for overnight.

Day 15: Departure

Transfer to the Airport and departure.
