Day 1: Arrival

Arrival in Tbilisi International Airport.

Day 2: Tbilisi

Today, we explore the capital of Georgia – Tbilisi. We will visit its narrow streets, with wooden houses and balconies. Visit Sulfur Bath Area and the historical museum, where the Golden Fund of Georgia is preserved. Tbilisi is city of diverse culture, we will see Orthodox Churches, Armenian Church, Mosque, Synagogue in the old part of the town.

Along with old architecture, we will see important examples of Modern Tbilisi architecture, such as Peace Bridge. At the end of the city tour, we will visit the wine-cellar, where we taste Georgian wines. After the tour have some free time to explore pretty cafes and bars of the city.

Day 3: Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Chardakhi - Zestafoni - Kutaisi

Today, we visit an ancient capital and religious center of Georgia – Mtskheta. Visit Jvari Monastery (6th century) and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century), both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Afterwards, visit local winery and taste BIO wines. It is well known fact, that Georgians were making wine from ancient times in a clay pot, called “Qvevri”.

We will taste wines, that are made exactly this way. Georgian style of wine-making is Intangible UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue our way to another wine-cellar, where along with wine, we will enjoy Georgian homemade dishes. After lunch, drive to Western Georgia. Before we arrive in antique city – Kutaisi, we visit Zestafoni. Here we visit local wine-cellar, where we taste typical wines from Western Georgia.

Wine of the day: “Chinuri” (dry, white); Khrakhuna (amber colored, dry); Otskhanuri Sapere (red, dry)

Day 4: Kutaisi - Ambrolauri - Gelati - Kutaisi

Today, we travel to very beautiful mountain region of Georgia – Racha. Racha is very famous with its hospitality tradition. First, we visit Nikortsminda Cathedral (11th century). The church is a wonder of local architecture. Carvings and ornaments on the walls of the church attract and surprise the travelers and scientists from all over the world. For lunch, visit local family, where we taste traditional dishes from Racha region.

Racha is not as full of wineyars as other regions of Georgia, however here we find very seldom and special endemic race of grapes – Kvanchkara. After Kvanchkhara tasting return to Kutaisi. On the way, visit Gelati Monastery complex. Gelati Monastery was founded in 12th century and used to be the most important cultural centers in the country. It is UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 5: Kutaisi - Martvili - Kutaisi

After breakfast, drive to Martvili and visit Martvili canyon. We will have possibility to take a short boat trip in the canyon. Afterwards, we visit local winery. This is another region of Georgia – Samegrelo and the host is proudly offering us Megrelian wines and dishes. Enjoy wine tasting and lunch and return to Kutaisi.

Wine of the day: “Ojaleshi” (ruby-coloured, semi-sweet)

Day 6: Kutaisi - Sachkhere - Mukhrani - Tbilisi

Today, we return to Tbilisi, but we visit very interesting places on our way to the capital. First, we arrive in Chiatura –  Soviet town with Soviet architecture and even cable cars. Afterwards, drive to Sachkhere and visit one more winery to taste another special and seldom wine – Tsolikauri.

Taste dishes from another region of Georgia – Imereti. Before arrival in Tbilisi, we visit French style Chateau in Mukhrani village. Royal atmosphere offers us royal wines.

Wine of the day: “Tsolikarui” (white, dry), Muscat (red, dessert wine)

Day 7 & day 8: Explore Kakhetian Wines

Day 7 and Day 8 will be final culminations of our trip. These days are dedicated to Kakheti region – the homeland of wine. We will visit local wine-cellars, local master of Qvevri, will taste wine & cheese and find out how different mixes of wine and cheese creates different taste.

We will visit wine museum, where we see the whole process of Qvevri manufacturing and wine making. Along with wines, we will have a chance to taste famous BBQ from Kakheti. Return to Tbilisi in the evening of day 8.

Wine of the day: “Rkatsiteli” (white, dry); “Saperavi”(red, dry); Kindzmarauli (red; semi-sweet); Zhgia (red dry, rare endemic variety), Chacha

Day 9: Departure

Transfer to the airport and departure.
